Tel Aviv: The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Wednesday said it carried out a series of airstrikes targeting key military facilities in Tehran and Isfahan, amid escalating tensions in the region.

According to the IDF, fighter jets from the Israeli Air Force struck two major sites in Tehran used by the Iranian regime for the development and production of long-range naval cruise missiles. These missiles, the IDF said, are capable of hitting both maritime and land-based targets.

IDF Post on X

In a post on X, the IDF stated that the targeted facilities were part of Iran’s efforts to enhance its naval strike capabilities. It added that the operation aimed to disrupt the production of advanced weapons systems.

The IDF further confirmed that Iran’s central explosives production facility in Isfahan was also hit. The site, which had reportedly been targeted earlier, was being restored to resume weapons material production when it was struck again.

Dozens of Military Targets Hit

"IAF fighter jets targeted facilities used by the Iranian regime to develop and manufacture long-range naval cruise missiles capable of destroying targets at sea and on land."IDF also said it had struck Iran's central explosives production facility in Isfahan, used by the regime to develop materials for weapons. The site had been previously targeted, and recent efforts to restore its capabilities were identified. In parallel, dozens of additional targets were struck, including ballistic missile launch sites, weapons production facilities and air defence systems.

In addition to these key locations, Israeli forces carried out strikes on dozens of other targets, including ballistic missile launch sites, weapons manufacturing units and air defence systems across Iran.

The strikes come amid heightened conflict in West Asia, raising concerns of further escalation and broader regional instability. Iranian authorities have not yet issued a detailed response to the latest Israeli claims.

No Response from Iran

There has however been no formal response from the Iranian side to the latest overture from Trump. The Iranians on Tuesday had denied reports of any negotiations with the US claiming that peace would only be achieved once US-Israel stopped its campaign.
