New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the Class XII board examinations scheduled between March 12 and March 16 in seven Middle East countries following a review of the prevailing situation in the region.

In a circular issued on March 9, the board announced that the decision was taken after assessing the uncertainty and stress faced by students. The postponement applies to CBSE-affiliated schools located in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Exams Scheduled Between March 12 and 16 Affected

According to the notification, all Class XII examinations planned from Thursday, March 12, to Monday, March 16, 2026 have been deferred. The board said revised dates for these examinations will be announced later.

CBSE noted that the move was made keeping in mind the “mental agony of the students and the prevailing uncertainties” in the region.

Situation to Be Reviewed on March 14

The board also said it will review the situation on March 14, 2026, before taking a decision on the remaining examinations scheduled from March 16 onwards.

Based on the review, CBSE will determine whether exams can proceed as planned or if further changes to the schedule will be required.

Students Advised to Follow Official Updates

Students have been advised to stay in regular contact with their schools and closely follow official announcements regarding the revised examination schedule.

The circular was sent to principals of CBSE-affiliated schools in the seven countries and shared with Indian embassies and education authorities in the region to ensure timely dissemination of information. CBSE officials said further updates will be issued after the review of the situation later this week.
