
PM Modi calls for dialogue in Ukraine, Mideast crisis (Img: Internet)
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said military conflicts cannot provide lasting solutions to global crises and stressed that ongoing wars, including those in Ukraine and West Asia, should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
The remarks came during a joint press briefing with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Stavanger as part of Modi’s ongoing Europe outreach tour.
Addressing the media, Modi said the world is currently passing through a phase of instability and uncertainty, with several regions witnessing prolonged conflict.

He emphasised that India and Europe are entering what he described as a “new golden era” in bilateral relations at a time when global cooperation is becoming increasingly important.
The prime minister also reiterated India’s stand against terrorism and thanked Norway for supporting India’s efforts in combating terror activities. He said both nations believe in a rules-based international order and peaceful coexistence.
During the interaction, Modi highlighted the significance of the India-Europe Free Trade Agreement, describing it as a historic framework for mutual growth and prosperity.
According to the prime minister, the agreement is expected to attract nearly USD 100 billion in investments into India and generate over one million jobs over the next 15 years.
He also praised Norway’s development model, calling the country an example of balancing environmental protection with economic progress.
Norwegian Prime Minister Støre said Modi’s visit reflects growing cooperation and shared ambitions between the two countries. He noted that bilateral trade between India and Norway has doubled over the past decade.
The two sides also discussed expanding cooperation in green technology, renewable energy, maritime services, artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure and healthcare innovation.

Støre announced that India and Norway are elevating their ties to a “Green Strategic Partnership” aimed at strengthening collaboration on sustainability and clean energy transition.
Both countries also signed agreements to deepen cooperation in digital health services, research, artificial intelligence and health technology.
Officials said the partnership would further strengthen investment opportunities, innovation and job creation across emerging sectors while boosting long-term strategic cooperation between India and Norway.
