‘Had productive conversation’: PM Modi Speaks With Trump On Trade, Defence And Energy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump reviewed bilateral cooperation in trade, defence, energy and critical technologies, while agreeing to maintain close engagement on their strategic partnership.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to US President Donald Trump over the phone, with the two leaders reviewing bilateral cooperation in trade, defence, energy, critical technologies and other areas.

The conversation also focused on taking the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership forward, with both leaders agreeing to maintain close engagement.

Modi, Trump Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

"Had a productive conversation with President Trump. We reviewed our bilateral cooperation in trade, defence, energy, critical technologies and other areas. We agreed to maintain close engagement to take our Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership forward," PM Modi posted on X after the phone call.

The Prime Minister said the discussion also covered issues beyond bilateral relations, including developments of wider regional and international significance.

"We also exchanged views on regional and international issues, including ongoing efforts to advance global peace and security," he added.

Leaders Review Progress In Key Areas

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office, Modi and Trump reiterated their commitment to advancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.

The two leaders also agreed to remain closely engaged to deepen cooperation for the benefit of people in both countries.

The PMO said the leaders reviewed the progress made in bilateral cooperation and discussed key areas of mutual interest.

"The two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation across trade, defence, energy, critical technologies and other areas of mutual interest," the statement said.
