Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday said Tehran remains committed to both diplomacy and national defence after halting its latest strikes on Israel following overnight exchanges of fire.

In a statement posted on X, Pezeshkian said Iran had “neither abandoned the battlefield nor the negotiating table,” stressing that the country would continue defending its national interests while remaining open to dialogue.

Military Operation Paused

The remarks came shortly after Iran’s military announced the end of its latest operation against Israel, which it described as a “painful response.” Iranian forces reportedly launched dozens of missiles toward Israeli targets during the escalation.

Iran also warned that any further attacks or aggression, including developments linked to southern Lebanon, could trigger a much stronger response.

Israel Responds With Counterstrikes

The Israeli military said it carried out retaliatory strikes on Iranian military infrastructure and defence systems across multiple locations. Israeli officials claimed around 30 missiles had been fired from Iran since Sunday night.

Despite the exchange of missile fire and airstrikes, no casualties were immediately reported in either Iran or Israel.
