Tehran: India on Monday issued a fresh advisory urging its citizens to avoid all travel to Iran following a sharp escalation in hostilities between Iran and Israel. The Indian Embassy in Tehran reiterated that nationals already

in the country should leave using available commercial or other transport options. Authorities emphasized that the situation remains unstable and subject to rapid change.

Embassy Urges Immediate Exit

In its statement, the embassy said Indian nationals in Iran must prioritise safety and depart the country as early as possible. The advisory follows earlier warnings issued after regional tensions intensified due to ongoing military strikes.

Officials have been coordinating with local authorities and transport operators to facilitate safe movement of citizens wherever possible.

Rising Conflict Across West Asia

The advisory comes as Iran and Israel exchanged renewed missile attacks, further escalating an already volatile situation in West Asia. Reports indicated that strikes targeted multiple locations, including military and infrastructure sites, as tensions widened beyond the two nations. The escalation has raised concerns across the region, particularly in areas hosting foreign nationals and military installations.

India’s Ongoing Evacuation Efforts

According to official data, more than 1,800 Indian nationals have already been evacuated since the conflict began. The Ministry of External Affairs has stated that it is closely monitoring developments and prioritising the safety of Indian citizens in affected regions.

Around 6.49 lakh passengers have also returned to India from West Asia since late February, reflecting continued movement amid instability.

Global Diplomatic Pressure Intensifies

The situation has drawn international attention, with calls for restraint and renewed diplomatic engagement. Despite ongoing strikes, discussions between global powers and regional actors continue over potential agreements aimed at stabilising key trade routes such as the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, the officials in multiple countries have urged citizens to remain alert as airspace disruptions and missile activity continue to affect travel and security conditions across parts of West Asia. Indian authorities have confirmed that advisories will be updated as the situation evolves, depending on ground developments and safety assessments in the region.
