New Delhi: Vladimir Putin may attend the G20 Summit in December of this year. The Kremlin has indicated that his visit is possible, though a final decision has not yet been made.
Donald Trump stated that if Putin attends the summit, it would be quite "helpful." He also remarked that excluding Russia from the G8 was a mistake.
The United States is hosting this year's G20 Summit in Miami. According to a US official, Russia has been invited to the summit and has accepted the invitation.
A Kremlin spokesperson stated:
In other words, the situation remains entirely unclear at this stage. Putin last attended a G20 Summit in 2019. Subsequently, he did not participate due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, which began in 2022.
Russia believes that platforms such as the G20 are crucial for discussing global crises. Conversely, Russia no longer considers the G7 to be particularly significant.
Trump has frequently faced accusations of adopting a "soft stance" toward Russia, though he denies these claims. He maintains that dialogue is the only solution to resolving problems.
All eyes are now focused on whether Putin himself will travel to Miami or if Russia will dispatch another representative. If Putin does attend, it would be regarded as a significant signal in the realm of global politics.
