Night of Horror in Ukraine: Russian Strikes Leave 27 Dead, Hundreds Evacuated From Kyiv Region

Kyiv: A deadly Russian air attack on Ukraine’s Kyiv region has left at least 27 people dead and 42 others injured, according to regional officials. The overnight strike triggered fires, damaged residential buildings and forced hundreds of people to evacuate from the affected areas.

Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko said more than 380 people were being evacuated from the strike-hit area in Bucha district following the attack.

Drone Strike Causes Massive Destruction

Officials said the Russian attack damaged at least 50 residential buildings in the region. A major fire broke out after the strikes, spreading to several houses and a restaurant.

The attack caused panic among residents as emergency teams rushed to the affected locations for rescue and relief operations.

Zelensky Orders Probe After Warehouse Explosion

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a warehouse in the village of Myla was hit during the attack, triggering an explosion.

Zelensky said authorities have launched criminal proceedings over alleged negligence related to the storage of ammunition near residential areas.

He said existing regulations prohibit storing ammunition close to homes and other civilian locations, and officials would investigate possible violations.

Hundreds Evacuated From Strike Zone

According to Ukrainian officials, more than 370 people have already been evacuated from the affected areas, including vulnerable residents such as elderly people and those with disabilities.

Emergency teams continue working in the region as authorities assess the extent of the damage caused by the attack.

Fresh Escalation in Russia-Ukraine War

The latest attack comes amid increasing long-range strikes between Russia and Ukraine, with civilian infrastructure, warehouses, ports and other key facilities increasingly becoming targets.

Earlier, Ukrainian authorities said a Russian drone strike on a warehouse near Kyiv’s Bucha district triggered a huge fire followed by multiple explosions.

Investigators are also examining whether explosive materials were stored legally at the site and whether safety rules were followed.

Officials Demand Accountability

Ukrainian officials criticised the incident, saying repeated failures to follow safety standards could not be ignored.

Authorities have promised a detailed investigation into the attack and possible negligence, while rescue operations continue in the affected areas.
