Gunfire Sparks Panic During Concord Celebration
Washington DC: A sudden gunfire erupted during the 28th annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Concord, North Carolina, USA, creating panic. Four people were injured in the incident that occurred on Friday evening. As soon as the gunfire began, hundreds of people present panicked and ran for safety.
Videos circulating on social media clearly show gunfire and screams. The video shows panicked people running away from the stage and tree lighting area, while children and families can be seen holding each other in fear.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Concord police immediately arrived at the scene and completely cordoned off the area near Church Street and Cabarrus Avenue. Security forces have sealed off the surrounding area with crime scene tape to prevent any evidence from being tampered with.
It is not yet clear who fired the shots and whether there was a premeditated motive. Police have stated that the investigation is ongoing and they are pursuing leads in all directions.
Concord Police Major Patrick Tierney stated at a press conference that the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Union Street near Corbin Avenue. This location was just steps away from the main event site, so panic quickly spread among the crowd.
Tierney stated that four people were taken to the hospital after receiving first aid, where their condition is being monitored. No fatalities have been reported at this time.
The Concord administration has canceled other Christmas events in the city following the incident. However, the city's Christmas parade, scheduled for Saturday, November 22nd, has not been canceled. The administration stated that a final decision will be made after a security assessment.
