Israel: More than 50 Palestinians were killed in the southern part of the Gaza Strip on Saturday. According to local officials, all of them were going for food packets. At the same time, according to hospital officials, the Israeli army opened fire on the crowd, in which many people were also injured. According to the information, all these Palestinians were going towards the food distribution centers run by an organization named Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). This organization has been distributing food in Gaza since May with the help of America and Israel.

What is GHF and what is the controversy?
GHF started work in Gaza in May. Its purpose is to deliver food to hungry people. America and Israel supported this organization because they allege that Hamas terrorists steal rations in the traditional UN-based relief distribution system. However, the United Nations completely rejects this allegation. GHF claims to have distributed lakhs of food packets, but the local health department and eyewitnesses say that hundreds of people have been killed in firing at these centers.

Firing incidents at two places
According to the information, the firing incident took place mainly at two places. The first incident took place near Teina area, Khan Younis city. During this, hundreds of people were walking towards a center of GHF about three kilometers away. According to witnesses, first the Israeli army fired in the air as a warning, but later fired directly on the people. An eyewitness said, 'It was a massacre ... soldiers started firing indiscriminately.' Another witness said that bullets were also fired from tanks and drones. After this, the injured people were picked up and brought to Nasr Hospital, Khan Younis, where 25 dead bodies and 70 injured have been confirmed. The second incident took place in Shakosh area, near Rafah city. Here too, bullets were fired on the crowd near the GHF center, in which seven people died, including a woman. The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals.

Eyewitnesses described the horrific scene

Giving information about this firing, a person said, 'We shouted - we want food, food! But they did not talk to us, they directly opened fire.' A Jordanian-Palestinian man said that his 19-year-old son Hisham was also killed. He appealed to the Jordanian government to help them get out of Gaza.

Clarification of GHF and Israeli army

GHF has said that there was no firing at its centers, and if there have been deaths, it was due to stampede and rumors spread by Hamas. At the same time, the Israeli army said that it only fires 'as a warning' if the crowd comes too close. However, there has been no official statement from the army and GHF on Saturday's incident so far.

Israel-Hamas conflict
On 7 October 2023, Hamas attacked Israel, killing 1,200 people and taking 250 hostage. In response, Israel launched a fierce military campaign on Gaza, which has killed more than 58,000 Palestinians so far, more than half of them women and children. Almost everyone in the entire Gaza Strip has been displaced, and infrastructure is completely destroyed.
