Spain closes airspace to US military flights
New Delhi: Spain’s government has barred US military aircraft involved in operations against Iran from using its airspace and bases, Defense Minister Margarita Robles confirmed on Monday.
“The bases are not authorized, and of course neither is the use of Spanish airspace for actions related to the war in Iran,” Robles told reporters, backing earlier reporting by El País.
Move Disrupts U.S. Military Logistics
According to the report, Spain’s decision has complicated U.S. operations, forcing aircraft to reroute and adjust logistics en route to the Middle East. Only emergency landings or transit are being permitted.
