Washington, D.C: US President Donald Trump has been in an uproar since he ordered a nuclear test, but Trump remains firm. In a shocking statement, he has stated that the United States possesses enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world, but still needs to conduct a nuclear test. Trump added that Russia and China's nuclear ambitions are also a reason for the US to conduct a nuclear test.

Trump ordered the nuclear test before meeting Xi Jinping

In an interview with CBS, Donald Trump said that he decided to conduct a nuclear test when he realized that despite such a large nuclear arsenal, the United States could not be the only country that did not conduct a nuclear test. The US President recently posted on social media, just hours before meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea, ordering the US Department of Defense to immediately begin nuclear testing. Trump's statement was criticized worldwide, and experts believe it could spark another nuclear weapons testing spree worldwide.

Trump's statement on nuclear weapons surprised many.
Trump said in his statement, "We have more nuclear weapons than any other country, and we must do something about nuclear disarmament. I spoke with Russian President Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping about this. We have enough nuclear weapons to destroy the entire world 150 times over. Russia also has many, and so does China." Trump said he does not want the US to be the only country not conducting nuclear tests.

Trump said, "Russia announced a nuclear test, and they are doing so. North Korea is also conducting nuclear tests, and other countries are doing the same. We do not want to be the only country not conducting tests." The US last conducted a nuclear test in 1992 during Operation Julian. The nuclear weapons tests by the US and Russia come at a time of heightened tensions between the two countries over the Ukraine war. Both countries are signatories to the CTBT, a treaty prohibiting nuclear testing. This treaty has been signed by 187 countries, including China, India, Pakistan, North Korea, and Israel.
