New Delhi: Donald Trump has expressed hope regarding negotiations with Iran but has simultaneously issued a stern warning. He states that there is still a possibility of a “great deal”—one that could prove mutually beneficial for both the United States and Iran.

While keeping the door open for dialogue on one hand, Trump is simultaneously applying pressure on the other. He has explicitly stated that, should the need arise, the United States stands ready to undertake military action once again.

In other words, the message is clear: either reach an agreement or face the consequences of military action. On April 8, a two-week ceasefire was established between the U.S. and Iran, which is now nearing its end. Trump has signaled that he is not inclined to extend it, stating, “In my opinion, there isn’t much time left.”

Reopening the Strait of Hormuz is the primary condition for this potential deal. This waterway serves as a critically important oil supply route for the entire world. The United States demands that Iran fully reopen this passage to ensure that global supply chains remain uninterrupted.

Iran has accused the United States of violating the ceasefire. According to reports, the U.S. Navy intercepted an Iranian vessel in the Gulf of Oman—an incident that Iran has characterized as a “violation of the ceasefire.” This incident has further escalated tensions between the two nations.

Preparations for Talks in Pakistan

Reports suggest that negotiations between the two countries may potentially take place in Pakistan. Trump has asserted that Iran has no alternative but to send representatives. However, there has been no official confirmation of this development as yet.

Trump has made one point absolutely clear: Iran must never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. This constitutes the single most critical condition of any potential deal.

The situation remains extremely delicate. On one hand, there is hope for dialogue; on the other, the specter of war looms large. It now remains to be seen whether Iran and the United States will reach an agreement or if tensions will escalate further.
