New Delhi: New US Ambassador Sergio Gor met with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra today on Saturday. This meeting comes after Gor recently assumed office as US Ambassador to India on 12 January. This meeting between the two leaders is considered significant in further strengthening the economic and technological dimensions of India-US relations.

During the meeting, both sides discussed in detail the possibilities for expanding cooperation between India and the US. Particularly, cutting-edge US technology, financial innovation, and potential future partnerships were discussed. Gor described the meeting as positive and useful and saw it as a sign of growing cooperation between the two countries.

In his first address after assuming the ambassadorship, Sergio Gor stated that India and the US are actively engaged in trade negotiations. He also clarified that despite public differences, dialogue between the two countries has never ceased. According to Gor, the hallmark of a strong partnership is that, despite differences, they are resolved through dialogue.
Sergio Gor expressed his gratitude to US President Donald Trump, saying that this appointment was a symbol of his trust. He also highlighted the friendly and strong relationship between President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which is considered the foundation of the strong India-US relationship.
During his visit to Mumbai on Friday, the US Ambassador also visited the US Consulate here. This was his first official visit to the city. He praised the efforts of the Embassy team and said that this team is playing an important role in advancing the India-US partnership.
Earlier, Sergio Gor presented his credentials to President Draupadi Murmu. On this occasion, he expressed his desire to advance shared priorities with India in areas such as defense, trade, technology, and critical minerals. Gor clarified that in the coming times, special attention will be given to making the relations between the two countries more comprehensive and stronger.
