New Delhi: The United States has reiterated that India remains at the core of its global strategic priorities, with newly appointed US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor describing President Donald Trump’s relationship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as “real” and underlining that no partnership is more consequential for Washington than ties with New Delhi.
Speaking after assuming charge in New Delhi, Gor said President Trump is keen to visit India within the next one or two years. Recalling Trump’s earlier visit, the ambassador said the US President often speaks fondly of India and his personal rapport with Prime Minister Modi.

During his remarks, Gor shared that Trump had recently reminisced about his last trip to India and highlighted his friendship with the Prime Minister. He added that frequent communication between the two leaders has helped shape a strong and enduring partnership.
Emphasising the importance of bilateral ties, Gor said India is Washington’s most significant partner in the current geopolitical landscape. He noted that cooperation between the two democracies spans trade, technology, defence, and global security, calling the relationship a meeting point of the world’s oldest and largest democracies.
According to Gor, both governments are actively engaging on a potential trade agreement, signalling renewed momentum in economic ties amid broader strategic cooperation.
In a major announcement, the US ambassador said India would be invited next month to join the US-led ‘PaxSilica’ initiative as a full member. He described PaxSilica as a strategic effort aimed at building a secure and innovation-driven silicon supply chain, covering everything from critical minerals and energy inputs to advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and logistics.

Countries such as Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Israel joined the initiative last month, and India’s inclusion reflects its growing role in global technology and manufacturing ecosystems.
Gor, who is regarded as a close member of President Trump’s inner circle, was sworn in as the US Ambassador to India in mid-November and has now formally assumed charge in New Delhi. His arrival comes at a time when both countries are seeking to reinvigorate ties after a period of strain.
Expressing optimism, Gor said his mission is to take the India-US partnership to the next level, adding that cooperation between the two nations would play a defining role in shaping global stability and technological progress in the coming years.
