Washington DC: The US Green Card Return Home Order announced by Trump administration's recent changes to the US Green Card process sparked concern after suggesting that some applicants seeking permanent residency could be required to return to their home countries while their applications are being processed.

Immigration Officers To Assess

However, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has now clarified that the requirement will not be applied automatically to all applicants.

Instead, US Immigration Officers will assess cases individually and determine whether an applicant must leave the United States during the residency process.

DHS officials emphasized that decisions under tha US Green Card Return Home Order  will be made on a case-by-case basis, providing greater flexibility than initially understood from the administration's announcement.

The DHS Clarification follows widespread anxiety among international students, temporary workers, and thousands of H-1B visa holders currently pursuing permanent residency in the US. Many feared the policy could disrupt their employment, education, and long-term immigration plans.
