Srinagar: The apple farmers in Rajouri are adopting ultra-high-density apple farming which is giving them larger profits. This modern agricultural techniques has given a significant boost in the farmers income and their self-independence. This new initiative is being supported by the Government Horticulture Department, reports Dynamite News correspondent.

Farmers Quite Happy

The apple growers are quite happy with this new technique which has given a significant boost in their income.

Apple Varieties In Kashmir Valley

There is a wide variety of apples with some world famous ones including Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Ambri, and Royal Gala in Kashmir Valley. The valley is also famous for some other local varieties like Kala Kulu and Hazratbali. Some varieties like Jeromine, King Roat, and Firdous are also available there.

Description Of Some Major Varieties

Red Delicious: Red Delicious is popular worldwide. This variety is produced in the Kashmir valley, particularly in regions like Shopian, with high quality and real taste.

Golden Delicious: This is famous for its classic golden-yellow color and sweet taste, making it a favorite for eating and cooking.

Ambri: It's a traditional Kashmiri apple known for its special taste and smell. But it's becoming less popular because it's easy to get sick, though people are working on making stronger versions like Lal-Ambri.

Royal Gala: This red variety is widely planted in high-density orchards in Kashmir because it grows well in the local weather and soil.

Jeromine: A newer type that is becoming more popular in Kashmir because of its special flavor and texture.

King Roat: Another new type known for its unique qualities and appeal to customers.

Firdous: A type that is resistant to diseases, developed by scientists at Sher-e-Kashmir Agricultural University.

American Trel: A well-known apple variety in Kashmir that adds to the region's apple diversity.

Maharaji: A traditional variety also grown in the valley.

Hazratbali: A traditional type known for its unique taste and aroma.

Kala Kulu: Another traditional variety, though it's not as common anymore.
