2 terrorists killed in Kulgam encounter
Srinagar: Security forces eliminated another terrorist during an ongoing encounter in Kulgam’s Guddar forest area on Sunday, raising the number of terrorists killed in the operation to two, officials confirmed.
According to officials, the counter-terror action began after credible intelligence inputs indicated the presence of armed terrorists in the dense forest belt. Acting on the tip-off, a joint team of the Indian Army and J&K Police launched a cordon-and-search operation.
As the forces moved in, they noticed movement in the area. The suspected terrorists opened fire, leading to a heavy exchange of gunfire. “In the retaliatory action, a second terrorist has been gunned down. The operation is still in progress,” an official source said.
Chinar Corps - Indian Army shared this information on social media on X. Post reads "One more terrorist has been eliminated in the ongoing Operation at Guddar forest of #Kulgam. One soldier suffered injuries and is being evacuated for requisite medical care. Identity of terrorists is being ascertained. Operation is in progress."

Earlier in the day, security personnel had reported the killing of the first terrorist, while a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) sustained injuries during the firefight.

Forces have tightened the cordon and are carrying out search operations to ensure no other terrorist presence in the vicinity, the official added.
