Police Trace Majority Of Cases

According to the data presented in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly, a total of 1,17,369 women and minor girls were reported missing during the two-year period.

Out of these cases, the police were able to trace 86,228 individuals, bringing relief to thousands of families. However, 31,141 women and girls are still missing, raising concerns over safety and trafficking risks.

Officials said police teams across the state continue to search for the missing individuals and investigate the circumstances behind the cases.

Government Monitoring Missing Person Cases

The state government has been monitoring missing person cases closely, particularly those involving minors and women. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to prioritise such investigations and ensure timely action.

Police departments across districts are using digital tracking systems and coordination with other states to trace missing individuals. Authorities also rely on public awareness campaigns and community involvement to help identify and locate missing persons.

Concerns Over Women’s Safety

The data has sparked renewed discussions on women’s safety and the need for stronger preventive measures. Experts say missing cases can be linked to multiple factors, including family disputes, migration, trafficking, or other social issues.

Activists have emphasised the importance of improving reporting systems, strengthening surveillance, and enhancing support mechanisms for vulnerable groups.

While the recovery of a large number of missing individuals offers some reassurance, officials acknowledge that locating those who remain unaccounted for remains a key priority for law enforcement agencies in Maharashtra.
