The bus, operated by Kaveri Travels, departed Hyderabad around midnight with 40 passengers on board, including staff. Around 3:30 am, it hit a two-wheeler on National Highway 44 (NH-44). Police suspect the two-wheeler got stuck under the bus, causing sparks that ignited the fire. The driver reportedly fled the scene immediately after the accident.

Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly, engulfing the bus in just a few minutes. Byreddy Shabari, Nandyal MP, stated, “An eyewitness traveling in the opposite direction tried to rescue passengers but could not help everyone. About 19 people were saved, but the bus was consumed by flames quickly.”
