Chhattisgarh: Security forces are continuing operations to free various parts of India from Naxal influence. In this context, on Wednesday, a fierce encounter took place between security personnel and Naxals in Beejapur and Bastar districts of Chhattisgarh.
The encounter is ongoing in the Gangalur area of Beejapur, with reports suggesting that the number of Naxals killed could rise. Security forces have encircled a large group of Naxals. The clash has been ongoing for several hours with heavy firing from both sides.
Beejapur SP Dr. Jitendra Yadav stated that a joint search operation was launched at 9 AM on Wednesday in the Beejapur-Dantewada border area of the West Bastar Division by DRG Dantewada-Beejapur, STF, and COBAR (CRPF) teams. During the operation, there was continuous intermittent firing between police and Naxals.

Bastar Range IG Sundarraj Pattlingam informed that seven Naxal bodies have been recovered from the encounter site so far. In addition, SLR rifles, 303 rifles, and other weapons and ammunition have also been seized.
In this encounter, two DRG jawans Head Constable Monu Wadari and Constable Dukaru Gonde were martyred, while another jawan, Somdev Yadav, was injured. He is currently receiving treatment and is out of danger.

Security forces received intelligence about Naxal activity in the forests of Gangalur, Beejapur. Based on this, a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG), STF, and CRPF was dispatched to the area. As soon as the team was spotted by the Naxals, they opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response from the security personnel.
