New Delhi: The weather pattern across India has changed suddenly in September, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing alerts for 18 states amid the possibility of heavy rainfall and strong winds. Several parts of the country are expected to witness thunderstorms, intense showers and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 60 kmph in the coming hours.
The weather department has advised people to remain cautious, especially in areas likely to experience strong winds and heavy rain. Farmers have also been urged to take preventive measures to protect standing crops.
The combination of heavy rainfall and strong winds may create difficulties for the agriculture sector. Standing crops could suffer damage due to strong winds, while waterlogging may affect fields in several regions.
Weather experts have advised farmers to temporarily avoid irrigation and pesticide spraying activities. Those who have harvested crops have been asked to move them to safer locations to prevent losses due to sudden rainfall.
The national capital is likely to experience a pleasant but windy day. Areas including Palam, Safdarjung, Najafgarh and Lodhi Road may witness light showers.
According to weather forecasts, Delhi could see winds moving at speeds of 30 to 40 kmph during the day. The temperature is expected to remain around 32 degrees Celsius during the day and 26 degrees Celsius at night, providing some relief from humidity.
Several parts of Uttar Pradesh may witness intense weather activity. Cities including Noida, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Kanpur and Agra are among the areas where rainfall alerts have been issued.
The IMD has warned that wind speeds in some parts of the state could reach up to 60 kmph, increasing the risk of waterlogging and disruption. Lucknow is expected to record temperatures between 27 and 32 degrees Celsius.
In Bihar, cities including Patna, Bhagalpur, Buxar and Motihari may receive heavy rainfall accompanied by winds reaching around 35 kmph.
Madhya Pradesh is also likely to experience stormy weather, with places such as Bhopal, Indore and Jabalpur expected to receive rain along with winds moving up to 45 kmph.
In Rajasthan, districts including Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur are likely to witness rainfall and strong winds. While the weather may bring relief from heat, authorities have warned that daily activities could be affected.
People in affected regions have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during thunderstorms, stay away from trees and weak structures, and remain updated with official weather alerts.
The IMD has urged residents and farmers to take precautions as changing weather conditions may continue to impact several parts of the country.
