Participants were encouraged to reflect on key principles such as data privacy, transparency, accountability and tackling misinformation. The campaign used scenario-based questions to promote thoughtful engagement rather than passive sign-ups. Those who completed the pledge received a digital badge and access to curated AI learning resources.
Officials said the response far exceeded the initial target of 5,000 pledges, demonstrating widespread awareness and enthusiasm, particularly among students and young professionals.
Addressing the gathering, Vaishnaw credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing responsible AI adoption. He said the Prime Minister’s vision of involving youth and academic institutions played a key role in mobilising participation across colleges and universities.

The record-setting campaign signals India’s intent to shape the global AI conversation with a focus on inclusivity and accountability. As artificial intelligence becomes central to governance, industry and daily life, the initiative underscores the importance of citizen-led digital responsibility in building a trustworthy AI ecosystem.
