New Delhi: A five-year-old girl was mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs in Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, on Saturday morning, triggering panic and grief in the locality.
The incident took place in Kalyan Nagar Tahluvan Purva under the Dhanepur police station area.
Muskan, daughter of Vishunlal, had gone out around 7:30 a.m. with her elder sister Mehak (6) and two other children, Naitik and Sunaina, near a primary school in Madhavganj, about 200 metres from their home, when the dogs attacked. While the other children managed to run to safety, Muskan was caught and brutally mauled.
Residents rushed to the spot on hearing screams and chased the dogs away before taking the critically injured child to a community health centre. She was later referred to a medical college, where doctors declared her dead.
The tragedy has left the village in mourning, with the victim’s mother Dhira and family members inconsolable, and local children gripped by fear.
