New Delhi: The Centre on Wednesday held a crucial all-party meeting to brief political leaders on the evolving crisis in West Asia, asserting that more India-bound ships are expected to safely pass through the Strait of Hormuz in the coming days.
The meeting, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, along with leaders from various political parties.
During the meeting, the government described the successful movement of Indian vessels through the Strait of Hormuz as a “diplomatic win,” especially at a time when several countries are facing disruptions in maritime routes due to heightened tensions in the region.

The government has emphasised that the safety of Indians remains its top priority amid the West Asia crisis, with a leader present in the all-party meeting saying the diaspora is a key concern.
Sharing details of the all-party meeting, BJP MP Manan Kumar Mishra said, "The purpose of calling the meeting was to clarify the situation, that is, what exactly is going to happen and what is happening. It has been made clear what the situation of the country is... The government is concerned about how to deal with this situation..."
“Our people are the primary objective and the diaspora is our priority concerns,” a leader inside the meeting said on condition of anonymity.
Officials informed that despite the ongoing conflict triggered by strikes involving the United States and Israel on Iran, India has managed to ensure the safe passage of its ships highlighting effective diplomatic engagement.

The government also reiterated that the safety and security of the Indian diaspora in the region remains a top priority. Leaders were assured that the situation is being closely monitored, and all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard Indian interests amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions.
The meeting underscored India’s strategic balancing act in maintaining maritime access and protecting its citizens during a period of global uncertainty.
