Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s Banderdewa police successfully busted a gang involved in a series of highway robberies along NH-415 near Karsingsa, with the arrest of four accused, said Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo on Saturday.

He stated that since January 2025, multiple victims had reported being chased by unidentified miscreants on two-wheelers who, on the pretext of checking Inner Line Permits (ILP) and other illegal substances, robbed them at dagger point.

Acting on FIRs, SP Gambo constituted a special investigation team comprising of SI Koj Tada, head constables Tade Bomdom, Chera Acha, and constable Rinchin Tsering under the supervision of Naharlagun SDPO Rishi Longdo and inspector Kipa Hamak, OC Banderdewa PS to trace the unidentified highway robbers.

Based on CCTV footage and eyewitness statements, the team tracked and intercepted two suspects on May 1 at Karsingsa wherein they attempted another robbery. One of the accused managed to flee, but 19-year-old Patey Bagang of Ganga, Itanagar, was apprehended. During interrogation, he revealed the identities of his three accomplices.
