New Delhi: After the press conference of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, the BJP hit back at him, describing it as a “damp squib” and accusing the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha of making false claims.
Taking a swipe at Gandhi by twisting the name of his “Chhatron Ki Goonj” initiative, BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari referred to the Congress leader’s press conference as “Jhoot Ki Goonj”.
Taking to X, Bhandari wrote: "Rahul Gandhi's Press was a damp squib! It was "Jhoot Ki Goonj" by a frustrated leader not able to win People's support through democratic means."
Bhandari went on to list what he described as two “lies” from Gandhi’s press conference and presented what he called the corresponding "truths".
The first issue he raised was Gandhi’s claim that there had been no anti-incumbency against the BJP since 2014. Responding to the argument, Bhandari said: “BJP has lost 20 elections since 2014.”
His second point concerned Gandhi’s question over how Prime Minister Narendra Modi had managed to win elections consecutively.
Countering Gandhi, Bhandari said: “Did Congress under Nehru did "Vote Chori", or does Congress win in Rae Bareilly 16 times in consectutive.”

BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi also responded to Gandhi’s allegations during a press conference, offering the party’s counterarguments to the Congress leader’s claims.
The BJP’s response came shortly after Gandhi launched a broadside at the Narendra Modi government and the Election Commission over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
During his press conference, Gandhi alleged that “all elections are being rigged”, intensifying the political confrontation over the electoral-roll revision exercise.
The Election Commission has maintained that decisions related to the SIR were taken unanimously and that differences and observations within the poll panel were part of its institutional deliberations.
