BSF arrests Pakistani national near International border in Jammu

Jammu: The Border Security Force (BSF) has arrested a Pakistani national near the International Border in Jammu’s Kanachak sector, officials said, as security agencies maintain heightened vigilance along the frontier.

The man was apprehended on September 3, 2026, by personnel of the BSF’s 44th battalion in a forward area near Border Out Post Sohan, officials said. According to officials, the arrested individual was identified as Nazir Sadhir, a resident of Luni village in Pakistan’s Sialkot district.

BSF questions man over border crossing

Following the arrest, BSF personnel questioned Sadhir to establish how he entered Indian territory and determine whether the crossing was accidental or deliberate. Senior BSF officers, including a deputy inspector general, were also present in the area as authorities assessed the circumstances surrounding the incident. Officials said the investigation is continuing, with agencies attempting to determine the purpose of the Pakistani national’s entry and the exact circumstances under which he crossed the border.

Jammu border remains under tight surveillance

The Jammu, Samba and Kathua stretches along the International Border remain under close surveillance by security agencies because of concerns related to infiltration, cross-border smuggling and drone activity. Security forces have maintained heightened alertness across vulnerable stretches of the Jammu frontier, with personnel monitoring possible unauthorised crossings and other suspicious activity. The latest arrest comes amid continued efforts by security agencies to strengthen surveillance along the border and quickly respond to suspected intrusions.

Investigation underway

Authorities are now examining the circumstances of the crossing and the reason for the individual’s presence on the Indian side of the border. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
