CBSE To Team Up With MOTU-PATLU To Promote Tax Awareness

New Delhi: The CBSE and the Income Tax Department have jointly launched a unique comic series featuring the popular cartoon characters Motu and Patlu, who educate children about taxes. This initiative is part of the Government of India's Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign.

The series is available in eight parts and can be read in multiple Indian languages.

Making Tax Education Simple for Children

Each comic features simple and engaging stories where Motu and Patlu learn why paying taxes is important and how it contributes to public services like healthcare, education, and infrastructure.

By explaining complex financial concepts in easy-to-understand language, the series provides children with an introductory understanding of taxes and their role in nation-building. These comics are published by the Directorate of Public Relations, Publication & Publicity, and can be downloaded for free from the Income Tax Department's official website.

The CBSE has urged all affiliated schools to disseminate these comics to students, teachers, and parents and incorporate them into classroom activities and discussions. This will foster a sense of responsible citizenship and a culture of tax compliance among children.
