New Delhi: India's Chief of Defense Staff Anil Chauhan has reached Britain on a three-day visit. The purpose of this visit is to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in military training, operations, and defense industry.
During this, General Chauhan will meet Britain's Chief of Defense Staff Richard Knighton and other senior military and government officials. In these meetings, further deepening of defense cooperation between the two countries will be discussed.
British High Commissioner Lindy Cameron said that the visit reflects the trust and partnership between the two countries. He said that both the countries are working together towards military coordination (interoperability), new technology, and strengthening security in the Indo-Pacific region.
During this tour, representatives of the British defense industry will also meet General Chauhan. Its objective is to promote defense production (co-production) between the two countries, which can help in future self-reliance and economic development.
General Chauhan will also visit the Royal College of Defense Studies, London, where he will interact with military officers from different countries. Apart from this, joint training programs between India and the UK are also continuously increasing.
This is the first official visit of an Indian CDS to the UK, indicating the growing ties between the two countries. In recent times, several major military exercises and high-level meetings have taken place between the two countries.
India and the UK have together prepared a 10-year defense industrial roadmap under Vision 2035. Its aim is to strengthen security, promote industry, and contribute to global stability.
