Delhi Metro gates closed amid CJP Protest

New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has suspended entry and exit at 16 metro stations from 7:30 am on Thursday until further notice due to heightened security arrangements amid the ongoing Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest at Jantar Mantar.

Interchange Services Remain Available

While passengers cannot enter or exit at the affected stations, DMRC said interchange facilities will continue to operate at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House and Central Secretariat, allowing commuters to switch metro lines without leaving the station.

List of Closed Metro Stations

The following stations have been closed until further instructions:

3. Patel Chowk
4. Ramakrishna Ashram Marg
5. Barakhambha Road
6. Supreme Court
7. Seva Teerth
8. Janpath
9. Mandi House
10. Central Secretariat
11. ITO
12. Delhi Gate
13. Indraprastha
14. Khan Market
15. Jor Bagh
16. Shivaji Stadium

Commuters Face Another Day of Disruption

This is the second consecutive day that the same set of stations has remained closed. On Wednesday, the shutdown lasted for nearly eight hours and disrupted travel for thousands of office-goers, students and daily commuters. Later in the day, Jhandewalan Metro Station was also temporarily added to the closure list before all exits were reopened in the evening.

Although metro services continued on most routes, trains skipped the closed stations, forcing passengers to travel to the next available station and complete their journeys by road.

Security Tightened Around Jantar Mantar

The metro restrictions come as the CJP protest over the alleged NEET paper leak entered its fourth day. Authorities have increased security deployment around Jantar Mantar following a larger turnout of protesters.

Late Wednesday evening, tension briefly escalated near Tolstoy Marg after a group of alleged miscreants reportedly attacked Delhi Police personnel with stones and bottles, injuring ACP Connaught Place Vivek Bhagat. Police said the situation was quickly brought under control and maintained that the main protest site at Jantar Mantar remained peaceful.
