Ranchi: The BJP has attacked the JMM-Congress government in Jharkhand and LoP in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi over the lathi charge and police action against the students protesting for irregularities in competitive exams and the education system.
Babulal Marandi, Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly and a senior BJP leader, slammed the Congress party and asked it to withdraw support from the Hemant Soren-led JMM government in the state if it is serious about students.
However, Rahul Gandhi said, while addressing a press conference in Delhi, that. “My message to Jharkhand students is very clear. We condemn any violence against peacefully protesting students.”
Gandhi further added that, “It does not matter where it is happening; we are against it, and we do not support it. There is no confusion in our minds. As long as the protests are peaceful, we are against attacking them with violence.”
Sharing a post on social media platform X, Gandhi wrote that the use of force against students protesting in Jharkhand was wrong and that students had a right to peaceful protest.
Speaking on the Jharkhand student protest, YSRCP Rajya Sabha MP Parimal Nathwani said that the state government has agreed on around 80 per cent of demands proposed by students. He further said that nothing can be resolved through pressure or lathi charge. The protest can be ended only through dialogue, mutual understanding and negotiation.
