New Delhi: Amid growing concerns over women’s safety in cabs, a Delhi cab driver has earned widespread praise on social media for his sensitive and reassuring response to a worried brother whose sister was travelling alone late at night.
The video, shared on X by Lakshya Mehta, shows a young woman boarding a cab at night for a journey from Delhi to Gurugram. Her brother, visibly concerned, is seen asking her to keep updating him throughout the ride and inform him once she reaches safely.
Noticing the brother’s worry, the cab driver stepped in and calmly reassured him. He told the brother that the cab’s number and his address were written outside the vehicle and asked him to take a photo if he wished. The driver then said, “She is like a sister to me too.”
The woman thanked him, saying her family often worries about her safety while travelling alone. The driver’s reply has now become the highlight of the viral video. Smiling warmly, he said, “Don’t worry. This is your brother’s cab. Sit back and relax.”
He further assured the brother that he would drop the woman safely, just as he would take care of his own younger sister. “Consider it as travelling in your own brother’s car,” he added.
The video has since gone viral, with social media users praising the driver’s kindness, responsibility and empathy. Many said that such gestures help restore trust in society, especially at a time when women’s safety during late-night travel remains a serious concern.
Several users called the driver a “real hero,” saying his few words offered comfort not just to the passenger and her family, but also to many others who watched the video online.
