‘Delhi belongs to everyone’: CM Rekha Gupta condemns ‘racial abuse’ of Arunachal women

New Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta strongly condemned the alleged racial abuse of three women from Arunachal Pradesh in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area, calling the incident unacceptable and assuring strict legal action against those responsible.

In a video message shared on social media, the chief minister said that Delhi belongs to everyone and the dignity and safety of every citizen must be protected.

‘Delhi Belongs To Everyone’

Gupta emphasised that discrimination or harassment based on identity would not be tolerated in the national capital. She said that the city is home to people from diverse regions and backgrounds, and ensuring their safety remains the government’s priority.

The chief minister added that the dignity, respect and security of every resident must be upheld at all times.

Assurance Of Strict Legal Action

Gupta said that law enforcement authorities are already taking the matter seriously and legal action is being pursued against those accused in the case. She assured that the police are handling the investigation with full responsibility and that the strictest possible action will be taken once the probe is completed.

The chief minister also stated that she plans to personally meet the women involved in the incident.

Safety Of Women A Priority

Highlighting the government’s stance on women’s safety, Gupta said that harassment, discrimination or humiliation of any woman would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

She reiterated that the safety of every daughter in the city remains a top priority for the administration.

Incident Sparked Outrage

The incident recently came into the spotlight after reports emerged that three women from Arunachal Pradesh were allegedly racially abused and threatened by a couple in Malviya Nagar.

The case triggered widespread outrage and renewed discussions about discrimination faced by people from India’s northeastern states while living in metropolitan cities.

Authorities have since initiated legal proceedings and are continuing their investigation into the matter.
