New Delhi: In yet another concerning incident involving Air India, a Delhi-to-London flight was forced to return to the national capital on Thursday after a suspected technical issue mid-air, causing significant inconvenience to passengers.
Flight AI111, which departed from Delhi at around 6:00 AM for Heathrow Airport, was airborne for nearly four hours before the crew decided to turn back while flying over Saudi Arabia airspace.

According to data from flight tracking platform Flightradar24, the aircraft remained in the air for a total of around seven hours, including the return journey, before landing safely back in Delhi at approximately 12:30 PM.
Sources indicated that unusual sounds were reportedly heard inside the aircraft during the flight, prompting the crew to take precautionary measures and divert back to the origin airport.

In an official statement, Air India said the decision to return was taken as a safety precaution after a suspected technical issue was detected. The airline confirmed that the aircraft landed safely and is currently undergoing a detailed technical inspection.
The airline also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers and stated that efforts are being made to arrange alternative travel to ensure they reach London at the earliest.
The incident has once again raised concerns over operational reliability, even as experts note that such precautionary returns reflect adherence to strict safety protocols in aviation.
