New Delhi: A devastating accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway claimed five lives late Tuesday night when a moving car suddenly caught fire in Rajasthan’s Alwar district. The victims, all residents of Sheopur in Madhya Pradesh, included three women, a man, and a child.

Fire Spread Within Minutes

The incident occurred around 1 AM near Moujpur under Laxmangarh police station limits. According to officials, the vehicle was en route from Delhi to Kota when flames broke out unexpectedly. The fire spread rapidly, leaving passengers trapped inside with no chance to escape.

Driver Escapes with Severe Injuries

The driver, Vinod Kumar Mehar, managed to jump out of the burning vehicle. He suffered approximately 80% burn injuries and is in critical condition. After initial treatment at a nearby facility, he was shifted to Alwar General Hospital.

Emergency Teams Respond Quickly

Local residents alerted authorities immediately. Police, NHAI patrol teams, ambulances, and fire brigade units reached the spot swiftly. However, the car was completely gutted before the fire could be controlled.

Investigation Underway

Senior police officials inspected the site, and efforts are ongoing to confirm the identities of the deceased and determine the exact cause of the fire.
