New Delhi: Residents of Delhi and the adjoining NCR region woke up to a pleasant morning on Friday, with the temperature hovering around 26°C. The skies were mostly clear in the early hours, but the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast partly cloudy to cloudy conditions as the day progresses.

Despite the cloud cover, no major rainfall is expected in the region.

As per IMD, the capital and its neighboring cities- Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad will experience a gradual rise in temperature by late morning, with maximums likely to touch 31-32°C. The cloud build-up could add a slight hint of humidity during the afternoon hours.

Western Uttar Pradesh

Districts in western UP including Noida, Agra, and Meerut are likely to witness dry and warm weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that temperatures may remain slightly above normal, leading to discomfort due to heat and humidity during the day. Such weather is typical during the retreating phase of the monsoon in early October.

Eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bundelkhand

In regions like Lucknow and Prayagraj, as well as parts of Bundelkhand, a low-pressure area is influencing weather patterns. Light rainfall or scattered showers are expected over the next few days. However, heavy rainfall is unlikely.

Daytime temperatures in these areas are expected to stay between 32°C and 34°C. The brief spells of rain may bring some relief in the evenings, making conditions relatively pleasant.

Rain in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

The higher reaches of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are forecast to receive light to moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms. In Uttarakhand, districts of Kumaon and Garhwal may continue to see intermittent showers in the coming days.

In Himachal Pradesh, upper hilly regions are likely to remain cloudy with occasional light rain, while the lower areas are expected to remain largely dry.

IMD Forecast and Advisory

According to the IMD, the main concern across the northern plains at present is heat and humidity, as the southwest monsoon has nearly withdrawn from the region. Meanwhile, eastern Uttar Pradesh and the hilly states will continue to receive intermittent rainfall, offering some relief.

The weather department has also advised people to stay updated with official bulletins and local news, particularly as changing conditions in the hills can sometimes trigger localized disruptions. In the plains, residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to afternoon heat.

Overall, while the retreat of the monsoon leaves much of Uttar Pradesh warm and dry, the hilly states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are expected to see continued rainfall activity, ensuring a sharp contrast in weather across northern India.
