New Delhi: The weather across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday, October 2 will remain variable with hazy sunshine dominating the morning hours and the possibility of thunder and light rainfall later in the day.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature is expected to settle between 31°C and 33°C, while the minimum is likely to hover around 24°C to 26°C.

Weather experts have indicated that thunderstorms with lightning and very light to light rain may occur in parts of Delhi-NCR during the late afternoon or evening. This may provide some relief from humidity and pollution which is troubling people more from past week.

Eastern and Western UP Weather Update

Large parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj and western districts like Meerut and Ghaziabad, may also witness partly cloudy skies with chances of light rain and thundershowers during late afternoon or evening.

According to the IMD officials, the maximum temperatures will remain around 32–34°C, while humidity levels are expected to stay high. Eastern Uttar Pradesh, particularly Varanasi and Gorakhpur, may see brief spells of moderate showers due to moisture incursion from the Bay of Bengal.

Farmers have been advised to plan harvesting activities cautiously as sudden rain may affect standing paddy crops. In western UP, weather conditions are likely to mirror NCR with brief evening showers and muggy afternoons.

Hill States- Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh

The hilly state is also bracing for scattered rainfall and thunderstorms, especially in districts like Dehradun, Haridwar, Nainital, Pauri and Chamoli. According to IMD’s mountain forecast, cloud build-up may intensify during the afternoon, leading to short but heavy showers in localized pockets.

Maximum temperatures will stay moderate, around 24–27°C in the plains and 15–20°C in higher reaches.

Whereas Himachal Pradesh is expected to remain relatively cool and pleasant in most hill regions, with the onset of clearer skies and diminishing rainfall compared to the peak monsoon months. Higher altitudes may experience chilly mornings and evenings, while valley areas will see milder daytime temperatures.

Across north India, the meteorological department has projected above-normal rainfall for October 2025, with the monsoon retreat likely to be delayed. Residents are advised to keep umbrellas handy and remain alert to traffic disruptions, waterlogging, or slippery roads in the evening hours.
