New Delhi: In a shocking development, sources have revealed that the vehicle involved in Monday’s deadly explosion near Delhi’s iconic Red Fort was linked to a radicalised “white collar” terror module operating out of Faridabad and south Kashmir. The blast, which claimed nine lives and injured several others, occurred when a car owned by Dr Umar Mohammad, a Pulwama-based doctor allegedly associated with the module, detonated near a traffic light. Officials believe Dr Umar triggered the explosion after authorities arrested key module members, including Dr Mujammil Shakeel and Dr Adil Rather, and seized large quantities of explosives over the past few days. The blast occurred hours after police recovered nearly 2,900 kilograms of suspected explosives, arms, and ammunition from two properties rented by Shakeel in Faridabad. The joint operations in J&K and Faridabad over the last two weeks recovered explosives, arms, and ammunition from multiple locations. Investigators believe the Red Fort car may have been intended for central Delhi targets before the explosion occurred.
