Faridabad Internet Shutdown
Faridabad Internet Shutdown: The Haryana government has ordered temporary suspension of mobile internet services, bulk SMS, and dongle-based internet in a specified area of Faridabad district ahead of a demolition drive scheduled for May 30. The move has been taken to maintain public peace and ensure law and order during the operation.
The order, issued under Section 20 of the Telecommunications Act, 2023 read with Rule 3 of the Telecommunications (Temporary Suspension of Services) Rules, 2024, mandates a complete shutdown of mobile data services including 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G networks within the designated area.
However, authorities have clarified that voice call services will remain functional. Essential services such as banking SMS alerts, mobile recharge facilities, and broadband or leased-line internet connections used by households and corporate establishments have also been exempted from the Faridabad Internet Shutdown restriction.
The Faridabad Internet Shutdown will be enforced from 00:30 hours to 22:00 hours on May 30 and will apply within a one-kilometre radius of the NIT Zone in Faridabad. All telecom service providers operating in Haryana have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order during the specified period.
Authorities said the decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to prevent any disturbance during the Faridabad Demolition Drive and to avoid misuse of mobile internet services that could potentially escalate tensions in the area.
Local police and administrative officials have been deployed to maintain order in the restricted zone and monitor compliance with the Haryana Internet Ban order. Citizens residing within the affected radius have been advised to stay indoors during the restriction period and cooperate with authorities.
The government has also appealed to residents not to believe or circulate rumours on social media, stressing that the Faridabad Internet Shutdown is temporary and strictly limited to the notified area and time window.
Officials confirmed that normal connectivity services will be restored after the conclusion of the Faridabad Demolition Drive without any further extension unless required due to unforeseen circumstances.
Authorities reiterated that the restrictions are part of standard security protocol and are not intended to inconvenience the public beyond operational requirements of the demolition drive.
