A fire erupted in an Air India SATS ground handling bus at Delhi Airport’s Terminal-3 on October 28, 2025. Thankfully, no passengers were onboard, and firefighters quickly controlled the blaze. Investigations are underway to determine the cause.
Fire Incident at Delhi Airport
New Delhi: On October 28, 2025, a bus belonging to AI SATS, Air India's ground handling company, caught fire at Terminal 3 (T3) of Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI Airport).
The incident occurred near aircraft bay number 32. Fortunately, there were no passengers on board the bus at the time, preventing a major disaster.
As soon as the fire broke out, the fire department team arrived promptly and brought the fire under control. It has been confirmed that no one was injured and no damage was caused to any of the surrounding aircraft.
The airport authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, while an official statement from Air India is awaited.
Delhi Airport is one of the busiest airports in the country, with three terminals and four runways. It has the capacity to handle over 100 million passengers annually. Terminal 3 is one of the largest terminals in the world and serves approximately 40 million passengers per year.

T3 is used for both domestic and international flights. The lower level of the terminal is used for arrivals, and the upper level is used for departures.
Last week, Terminal 2 (T2) was renovated and reopened. This has improved passenger facilities and increased the airport's operational capacity. While the fire incident at T3 caused some disruption, the situation is now reported to be completely normal.
Although the fire incident may seem alarming, the fact that no one was injured is a relief. Authorities have launched an investigation, and the cause of the fire is expected to be determined in due course.
This incident also highlights the importance of airport safety and emergency response protocols.
