After a detailed voter roll revision in Goa, more than 27,000 names have been removed while thousands of new electors were added. The updated electoral roll reveals shifts in demographics, youth voter participation and gender ratio across the state.

Election Commission of India has released the final electoral roll for Goa
Goa: The Election Commission of India has released the final electoral roll for Goa following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 exercise.
According to the updated roll published on February 21, the coastal state now has 10,57,566 registered voters, marking a net decrease of 27,426 electors compared to the draft electoral roll released in December 2025.
The revision exercise was aimed at improving accuracy in the voter database by identifying duplicate, ineligible or outdated entries.
The final roll shows a slightly reduced but more verified voter base.
Of the 10.57 lakh electors, the distribution includes:
5,11,436 male voters
5,46,121 female voters
9 third-gender voters
The numbers indicate that women voters continue to outnumber men in the state. The gender ratio now stands at 1,068 female voters for every 1,000 male voters, reflecting strong female electoral participation.
During the revision process, authorities examined thousands of records to update the list.
Key changes include:
12,166 new voters added
3,959 entries removed
35,780 voters marked as ineligible
Officials also confirmed that 100% photo coverage and EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) coverage has been achieved for general electors in Goa.
As part of the exercise, authorities printed and distributed 11,85,034 enumeration forms across the state.
Out of these, 10,84,992 forms were returned, representing a response rate of 91.56%.
However, 1,00,042 forms were not submitted and were categorised under the ASDD list which stands for Absent, Shifted, Dead or Duplicate voters.
Deaths: 25,574
Absent or untraceable: 29,729
Permanently shifted: 40,469
Already registered elsewhere: 1,997
Other cases: 2,273
The updated roll also shows a slight rise in young voters. The share of voters aged 18–19 years increased to 0.89%, compared with 0.57% in the earlier draft roll.
Officials also flagged 58,923 cases of “logical discrepancies”, including mismatches in parental details, unusual age gaps in family data and other documentation inconsistencies.
After the revision and rationalisation exercise, Goa now has 1,731 polling stations, ensuring better accessibility for voters across the state.
