New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing tensions in the Middle East (West Asia), the government of India has clarified that the supply of LPG, petrol, and diesel within the country remains normal. The government has taken several key measures to ensure that the general public faces no inconvenience and to prevent panic buying.
According to the government, top priority is being accorded to domestic LPG supply. No gas agency has reported a "dry-out" situation—meaning a depletion of cylinder stocks. Deliveries are continuing as usual. Online bookings have reached 98%. Additionally, the supply of smaller 5-kg cylinders for laborers has been increased, and lakhs of such cylinders have already been sold.
Petrol and diesel are available across the country. There has been no hike in prices. The government has reduced the excise duty by ₹10 per liter. Although crude oil prices have risen in the international market, efforts are being made to minimize the impact of this on the general public.
The government has clearly stated to the public:
Refineries are operating at full capacity.
Since February 28, over 1.01 million (10.10 lakh) people have returned to India. 2,348 Indians have been safely evacuated from Iran. People are continuously being brought back from various countries via flights.
While the circumstances are undoubtedly challenging, the government asserts that it will not allow any shortage of essential commodities to occur within the country. All ministries and state governments are working in coordination to closely monitor the situation.
