HAL said there was no crash involving the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas
New Delhi: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has dismissed media reports claiming that a HAL Tejas fighter jet had crashed, clarifying that the incident was limited to a minor technical issue on the ground.
In an official statement, HAL said there was no crash involving the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas and termed the episode a “minor technical incident.” The clarification came after multiple reports suggested that an Indian Air Force jet had suffered major damage earlier this month.

According to earlier reports, the aircraft was returning from a routine training sortie on February 7 when it allegedly experienced a suspected brake failure, leading to a runway excursion at a frontline airbase. While the exact location was not disclosed, the jet was said to have sustained structural damage to its airframe.
Sources indicated that the pilot ejected safely and did not suffer injuries.
However, HAL stressed that as part of standard operating procedures, the matter is being analysed in detail. The company is working closely with the Indian Air Force to determine the technical aspects and ensure a swift resolution.
HAL also underscored that the LCA Tejas maintains one of the strongest safety records among contemporary fighter aircraft globally. Since its induction into service in 2015, three incidents have been reported.

Designed by the Aeronautical Development Agency and manufactured by HAL, Tejas is a single-engine, multi-role fighter capable of operating in high-threat environments. It performs air defence, strike, and maritime reconnaissance roles.
The Indian Air Force currently operates around 30 Tejas aircraft as part of its fleet.
