New Delhi: India is currently experiencing a diverse mix of weather patterns, and the forecasts indicate that this trend will persist over the coming days. While several regions are likely to endure rising temperatures and heatwave conditions, others may see rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Heatwave and Humidity to Intensify

With summer setting in, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail across multiple states, particularly in northern and central India. Regions such as Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand are likely to face prolonged periods of extreme heat.

Meanwhile, the southern and coastal regions including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Karnataka and parts of Andhra Pradesh are forecast to experience hot and humid conditions. These weather patterns can increase discomfort levels, especially in areas with high moisture content in the air.

Warm night conditions are also anticipated in Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand, meaning temperatures will remain elevated even after sunset, offering little respite from the daytime heat.

Temperatures on the Rise in North and East India

Maximum temperatures are projected to rise steadily across the parts of northwest India. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi could see an increase of 3-5°C over the next few days, intensifying summer conditions.

In eastern India, temperatures are also expected to climb by 2-3°C, indicating a continuation of the ongoing warm weather trend across the region.

Rainfall and Thunderstorms Offer Partial Relief

Despite the heatwave warnings, several regions are likely to receive rainfall and thunderstorm activity. Northern mountainous areas such as Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh may experience light to moderate precipitation, along with lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of up to 50 kmph.

Northeastern states including Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh are also expected to witness consistent rainfall. Similarly, parts of central India like Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh may see thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds.

Southern states, including Karnataka, Telangana and Kerala are also forecast to receive scattered rainfall and thunderstorm activity.

Delhi Weather: Hot Days, Mild Relief

In Delhi, partly cloudy skies are expected, with no major alerts issued. Recent rainfall has brought temporary relief from the heat, but temperatures are set to rise again. Daytime highs are likely to range between 39°C and 41°C, while the nighttime temperatures may remain between 20°C and 22°C.
