Hisar: Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, has appointed a lawyer for her legal battle. On Thursday, her lawyer Mukesh Kumar filed the Vakalatnama in the court. This step has been taken when a few days ago, Jyoti's father Harish Malhotra expressed his inability to appoint a lawyer due to financial constraints.

According to Dynamite News correspondent, for the first time after the arrest, Jyoti Malhotra's father reached Hisar Central Jail to meet her. He met his daughter after getting permission from the jail administration. During this, there was an emotional conversation between the two. Where the father inquired about Jyoti's condition and her legal rights.

Statement of lawyer Mukesh Kumar

After taking charge of the case, advocate Mukesh Kumar said, "Jyoti Malhotra appointed me as her lawyer yesterday and I have filed her Vakalatnama in the court today. Now I will take information about all the documents and evidence related to the case. Only after this the further strategy will be decided." He also informed that the next hearing may be through video conferencing.

Items sent for forensic investigation

Jyoti's bank accounts, financial transactions and contacts are being thoroughly investigated. It is suspected that she has received money from foreign sources or has given some kind of financial help. The police have so far seized three of her mobile phones, a laptop and other electronic devices. Which have been sent for forensic investigation.

Jyoti sent sensitive information through codewords

In the 12 terabytes of data recovered so far from these devices, conversations on encrypted messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Snapchat and Telegram are being investigated. Jyoti sent sensitive information through codewords. So that Indian security agencies could be confused.

The accused is in 14-day police custody

Jyoti Malhotra is currently in 14-day police custody. During this time, the police is investigating her activities, contacts and digital communication. Investigative agencies believe that the case is related to terrorism and national security. Therefore, every aspect is being investigated thoroughly.
