DK Shivakumar elected CLP leader
New Delhi: The much-awaited expansion of the Karnataka Cabinet is expected to take place on Monday, with the Congress high command likely to give its final approval to the list of new ministers before the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for around 4 pm. The development comes after several rounds of consultations between the party's central leadership and senior Karnataka leaders in New Delhi.
According to sources, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) is expected to finalise and release the list of leaders who will be inducted into the Cabinet. Following the approval, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is expected to forward the recommendations to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot for constitutional clearance and formal appointment under the provisions governing the Council of Ministers.

The Cabinet expansion had earlier been expected on July 31 but was postponed after further deliberations within the Congress leadership. Over the past week, senior party leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC General Secretaries K C Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala, along with Karnataka leaders DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president BK Hariprasad, held multiple meetings in Delhi to finalise the composition of the expanded ministry.
The Chief Minister had indicated on Friday that the Cabinet expansion was almost certain to take place on August 3, stating that the process was nearly finalised. Sources said the state government has already made informal arrangements with Raj Bhavan for the oath-taking ceremony at Lok Bhavan once the final clearance is received from the party leadership.
There are currently 20 vacant positions in the Karnataka Council of Ministers, and the expansion is expected to fill most, if not all, of these berths. The induction is aimed at ensuring broader regional representation, maintaining caste and community balance, strengthening administrative efficiency, and accommodating senior legislators who have been awaiting ministerial responsibilities since the formation of the government.

Sources further indicated that selected MLAs are likely to receive official communication shortly after the final list reaches the Chief Minister. The names will then be forwarded to the Governor, who will administer the oath of office and secrecy in accordance with constitutional procedure before the ministers formally assume charge of their respective portfolios.
According to information accessed by Dynamite News, the probable list of leaders likely to be inducted into the Karnataka Cabinet includes PM Narendraswamy, B Zameer, Shivraj Tangadi, Rudrappa Lamani, B Nagendra, T Raghumurthy, Rizwan Arshad, Santosh Lad, Madhuri Bangarappa, Puttarangashetty, Mankal Vaidya, Ajay Singh, N Chelluvarayswamy, M Sivalinga Gowda, C Balakrishna, Vijayanada Kashappanvar and Laxman Savadi.

While the final decision rests with the Congress high command and remains subject to official notification, the expected Cabinet expansion is being seen as a significant political exercise ahead of upcoming organisational and governance priorities in Karnataka. Any changes to the proposed list or portfolio allocation will become legally effective only after the Governor's approval, issuance of the official notification and completion of the swearing-in ceremony.
