New Delhi: The INDIA bloc has chosen former Supreme Court judge Justice B Sudarshan Reddy as its Vice-Presidential candidate. The announcement of his name was made by Congress President Mallikaarjun Kharge today on Tuesday.
"B Sudershan Reddy is one of India's most distinguished and progressive jurists. He has had a long and eminent legal career, including as judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Chief Justice of Guwahati High Court and Judge of the Supreme Court," said Kharge.

Justice B Sudershan Reddy was born on 8 July 1946 at Akula Mylaram Village, erstwhile Ibrahimpatnam Taluq, presently Kandukur Revenue Mandal, Rangareddy District, in Telangana in an agricultural family.

B Sudershan Reddy named as Opposition’s Vice-President Candidate
Reddy was the government advocate in the Andhra Pradesh High Court from 1988 to 1990. Later, he served as an additional permanent advocate for the Central Government. Through his legal expertise and clean image, he earned respected place in the judiciary.
Justice Reddy becoming a Supreme Court Judge
Justice Reddy was appointed as a permanent judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on 2 May 1995. He then became the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court on 5 December 2005. The highest achievement of his judicial journey came on 12 January 2007, when he was appointed a judge of the Supreme Court of India. He retired on 8 July 2011.
