LPG delivery crisis deepens in Malwa
Kolkata: A growing backlog in LPG cylinder deliveries has left thousands of households across four Malwa districts struggling, as delays stretch well beyond the usual timeline. Official data from 47 Indane gas agencies reveals that 18,556 refill bookings have been pending for more than 10 days, while an additional 1,051 consumers have been waiting over 20 days for delivery.
The situation is particularly severe in Faridkot, where customers are currently receiving cylinders nearly 11–12 days after placing orders. On Tuesday, agencies were still fulfilling bookings made on April 9 and 10, highlighting the widening gap between demand and supply.

Within Faridkot city alone, four Indane agencies account for a significant portion of the backlog. According to the District Food and Supply Department, 10,361 bookings remain pending, including 1,608 consumers who placed their orders on or before April 12 and are yet to receive their refills.
Officials and industry insiders point to logistical challenges and tightening supply conditions as key reasons behind the disruption. These issues are reportedly being compounded by ongoing geopolitical tensions involving Israel, the United States, and Iran, which could potentially affect global energy supply chains, including LPG distribution.

For consumers, the delays have become more than an inconvenience. Many households that rely on LPG for daily cooking are now forced to seek alternatives such as electric stoves, adding to both financial strain and frustration. The prolonged waiting period has sparked concerns about the resilience of the supply system and the need for timely intervention to ease the burden on affected families.
