New Delhi: The protest by INDIA bloc MPs in Parliament complex against SIR in Bihar continues on 10th day, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
INDIA bloc parties are protesting at the Makkar Dawar in Parliament demanding a discussion in both Houses on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Waynad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are among those protesting with the banner "The SIR: War on democracy".
In the Rajya Sabha, opposition members were shouting "Vote Chori Band Karo," and the Deputy Chairman said that was not acceptable behavior. He reminded everyone that they must follow the House rules. He added that to strengthen democracy, it's important to focus on the concerns of the people.
At the same time, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla decided to end the session for the day. Before leaving, he told the members, "You are not serving the people by shouting slogans. " He explained that the people have given them a chance to bring up their issues in the House.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore has informed the Lok Sabha that he will move an Adjournment Motion to talk about the issue of SIR. DMK MP Tiruchi Siva has also sent a notice to adjourn the business in the Rajya Sabha under rule 267 to discuss the same matter. Before this, members from the India Alliance held a protest in front of the Makar Dwar at the Parliament and asked for a discussion on the SIR in both Houses.
Yesterday on Thursday, all the parties of INDIA bloc decided in the meeting to intensify their protests against the SIR both inside and outside Parliament.

Today on Friday the Election Commission is scheduled to publish the draft electoral rolls of Bihar. Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, said in a message to voters:
"The draft electoral rolls of Bihar are being published on Friday, August 1, at https://voters.eci.gov.in/download".
At the same time, "Physical as well as digital copies will also be given to all recognised political parties in Bihar in all 38 Districts by all the 38 District Election Officers (DEOs) of Bihar," said the ECI.
Accordingly the copies of the draft electoral rolls of Bihar have been given to all recognised political parties.
